Screen Printing  Historians are not sure when screen printing began. Earliest stencils were produced in Japan from A.D. 960-1280.

Ancient Hebrews, Egyptians, Babylonians, and Phoenicians embroidered their clothing.

Graphic design is traced to the origin of the written word. In the late 19^th century it was identified as a separate entity.

The first American advertisement was an announcement in  the Boston News-Letter, in 1704.
